installing motor...shortblock or long block?

Hey guys, I'm about to install my new rebuild, and this is the first time I would have done this. Just trying to learn from your experiences as to what should I install onto the block while its out (assecories) and what I should bolt on and connect when its in the bay?

I'm doing the clutch too - that will be done while its out.
manis?
Pumps? (water/oil)
starter?
Other stuff I'm missing?
Any other tips?

I will be doing the job at a friends dad's shop, so we should have all the tools we need.

thanks,
-Alex

I agree with this, put as much stuff on as you possibly can (hopefully, everything...) 'cause doing **** inside the engine bay is always a bitch...

especially when compared to doing it with the engine suspended at a nice working level...

...only thing you shouldn't put on is stuff that can be easily damaged.. (electronics and stuff... )

Starter goes on after the engine is bolted to the tranny....

oil pump should definately be on... ...'cause thats inside the front cover.... and I hope that is on... and the water pump should go on...

and take your time doing it!
