Unhappy Installing fuel injectors

I just thought it might me a help to some one who came after me to share my experience. I had the fuel injectors cleaned and when I reinstalled them I didn't put a drop of oil on the upper O-rings. Got it all put back together and re tuned and off I went. About two weeks later I get this fuel smell and white smoke after shut down. Opened the hood and found that one of the secondaries was leaking gas. Took it all apart again and discovered that the O-ring had gotten twisted and torn when I put the injector in the fuel rail. Could have saved myself a lot of work by paying attention to the RX7 gurus the first time.

Along with that, you should have a spare set of O-rings available any time you pull the injectors. They can get scratched or chipped just pulling them out of the rail sockets.

Yea. Everytime I pull them I make sure to lube the orings and grommets so they dont get torn and also so they seal a little better. When you put them into the fuel rails you should push and twist gently. Just the other weak I had a pinched top oring causing fuel to leak out. Be sure to jumper the fuel pump before putting your UIM back on as well to check for leaks.

and an even better reason to oil the o-rings is: if they leak you have a potential for an engine fire, the Pulsation damper caused alot of engine fires and this is a similar thing to have happen.

only you can prevent FC fires!...

ok that last line was cheesy but fuel is something to be careful with in an engine bay.
