I installed an apex bov today, and I noticed the exhaust popping a few times, like backfire or something. It never did this before so I'm assuming they are correlated. My question is why? Thanks.

Because the air escaping the BOV is vented into the atmosphere and not into the intake, you're running really rich for a split second between shifts, which causes a backfire. At least that's what I've heard.

What BOV are you guys running?

I am running the APEXi dual chamber BOV that I installed a few weeks ago, don't forget to adjust the screw and tighten it until you can't hear any more air escaping (should sound like a loud whistling noise).

The only problems I had with the kit included the fact that the intercooler IN-pipe is totally incompatible and needs work.

Check out my site

The apex-i bov vents to the atmosphere. When you boost then shift, the air gets vented out of the bov into the air instead of back into the intake like the stock bov. There are some different things you can do to overcome this, I have a S-AFC and it has a feature that keeps the car from stalling when using an open atmosphere bov.

You need to adjust the tension spring so there isn't a vacuum leak. Just loosen the locknut on the end and screw it in some.
