Installed aftermarket steering wheel (searched)

Anyone have the problem that when they install their aftermarket steering wheel they end up crushing the turn signal cancel thingy?

Is there any way to stop the beeping? Maybe move a couple wires around?

I dont mind that it doesnt cancel my turn signal... i can just turn it off myself.

JUST STOP THE BEEPING!!!!!

Beeping? The only thing I know of (besides the redline warning/idiot light warnings) is the CPU speaker. If that's what's doing it, you can just take apart the CPU (driverside kick panel next to fuses), and remove the speaker from the board.

he screwed up the Power steering Canceling "thinga-ma-Jig!"..There is supposed to be a Ring that has two little Points on it,and it cancels the Signal lights out when you Turn the wheel..I think he may have shorted the Part that is behind it on the Column..If the Noise is driving you Crazy, the only thing I can suggest is to Unplug the CPU on the Driver's side.(little black Box,behind the Side Kick panel)..There IS NO speaker on that CPU..it is Sealed.

I "crushed" my turn signal "thinga-ma-jig" when I installed my hub and steering wheel. I removed the unnecessary pieces and I never heard a beeping sound. I have to cancel the turn signal manually, but other than that it's fine. So for what that's worth in response to your question.

I can't believe you would endure something as annoying as a turn signal that won't cancel all for the sake of a likely heinous racing wheel.

The steering wheel position sensor is used by both the turn signals and the power steering computer.

You can unplug the power steering computer, but you will loose power steering. But that will also kill the beeping.

Otherwise you need to fix or replace the steering wheel position sensor.

Don't just pull the power steering fuse, as there are other circuits on it.

I still have power steering, I will have to look into that further. The choice of ones steering wheel is a personal issue. Some like aftermarket steering wheels and some don't. Same is true for most all modifications we do. As for me, I felt like the stock wheel was too large in diameter. So I chose a smaller wheel. I for one don't care about the auto-canceling aspect of the wheel because I can remember to turn off my blinker. Besides, dealer cost is around $150.00 for the assembly.

Thanks for all the replies guys. For some reason when i installed the hub for the steering wheel it wouldnt fit right unless it was cranked down, which ended up crushing the plastic bits. Maybe its the wrong hub??? The box says FC3S on it... but i dunno...

make sure you line up the holes on the back of the steering wheel adapter with the plastic pins that stick up out of the steering wheel position sensor bushing.
