Angry Insanely frustrated....DIE BUZZER!!!!

**after much carnage and bloodspray due to the lack of information after searching, Kyle turns to the forum** lol alright, I've been searching on this damn problem forever and i've found plenty of stuff, but none of it seems to work...The problem is, when I swapped out my gauge cluster ( due to a broken spring in the speedometer ) whenever I turn the battery on or start the car a hellaciously annoying buzzing sound kicks on under the dash (sounds like a miniature car horn) and the shift up light comes on...WTF is going on!! here's what i've done troubleshooting so far

Swapped back in the old one wondering if it was due to bad solderings, nope didn't work

Swapped the speedometer out of the new cluster into the old but didn't work

Checked the coolant sensor and coolant levels

Grounded the coolant sensor wire, didn't work so i reconnected it

please help???

You need to check both the coolant level (in the radiator) and the oil level, and if they're okay then grab the FSM and troubleshoot the coolant and oil level warning systems as described in the Body Electrical chapter.

Tach messed up? It buzzes and shift light comes on when you reach the redline. maybe something is internally broke with the tach.

Sometimes the coolant buzzer can go off because the sensor or wires to the sensor have croaked.

I havent actually ever experienced that in a 7 though.

if it only started happrning after you swapped the cluster you could have a good check of the wiring behind the cluster to make sure you havn't snagged or damaged a wire.

yup, happened to me but it was b/c the harness in the back of the cluster was put in wrong. the prongs are to fit snug, not force fed lol. try it again, should be straight

actually now that i think about it...the oil level buzzer kind of makes sense since i haven't been able to get the 7 out on the streets for awhile or even start it up for more than a few minutes, so i wouldn't be surprised if the oil just really needs to be topped off and circulating again

haha i know what you mean scorpio, it's a ***** trying to reconnect the harness to the cluster, tis quite stubborn

It also buzzes when oil or coolant is low. And the shift-up light is an economy indicator, not a redline warning. It should come on well before redline.
