Injectors
How can you test the primary injectors, the ones that are under the intake. I can't even see them and I suspect one may be clogging up. Will the engine still fire up on the top or secondary injectors. 1989 rx7 non-turbo. Thanks Gary

To get to the primaries, I had to take the two upper parts of the intake manifold off. It's just a pain in the *** because there's so many damn hoses. But once you get the intake off, the injectors are right there, staring at you. Be sure to depressurize the fuel system before you take the fuel rails off.

Well there is a way in the factory service manual in the fuel section. You might want to give it a try. No the engine won't run on the secondaries by them selves. Won't start with only secondary injectors if thats what you asked. You might want to try just swapping the primaries with the secondaries and see if there is an improvement.
The check in the fsm shows some MAZDA tester, but you can do the same if you can stand the risk factor. Take the secondary rail two bolts out and lift the injectors out of their bores. Leave the fuel hoses on. Put a graduated container under one of the injectors, or if you want just a container. You can then pour the contents into a graduated container later. You'll need a old injector plug with two long pieces of wire. Put alligator clips on the end of each. Put one on the neg terminal of the battery. Get a watch out. For 15 seconds put the other lead on the pos terminal of the battery. Then measure the results. The fsm gives the range of fluid to be collected in 15 minutes.Make sure the engine is cool or cold. I'd suggest outdoors with a fire extinguisher. Irv suggests a 10ohm resistor in line with the power wire. I've done it both ways and no problem yet.
