Exclamation Injector Questions

okay this is for you gurus....., I just install dome 720cc, that say denso on the side they have square connectors just like my 550s that i took out, but the have a centered notch on the outside bottom and the 550s have an offset notch , the 550s have purple tops the number on the side is 195500-1370, and I wanna know are they high or low Imp.? I have installed the 720s and the plastic connector kinda snaped but the metalic parts are connected, I have them in my car now and it runs okays, I have been having a slow reving problem but I thought that was just cause it was too rich.....please someone tell me whats up, tommorow I will test the resistance with my dads multi-meter, but if someocan tell me now that would be great.....

Offsets are high impedence, centered are low.

Put your meter on ohms, touch one lead to one prong and the other lead to the other prong. Low impedence usually run 2-3 ohms, usuall closer to 2.1 to 2.2.

Also look at this thread, about half way down the page:https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ght=1955002020

And if that does not sate your appetite for injector info, just highlite the numbers you wrote 195500-1370 and paste that into the SEARCH engine on this site. You'll see a whole handful of items on injectors.

from my understanding it'll burn up your ECU... You need to do the 10ohm x 10watt resistor inline with each injector that you replaced to low impedence. I went to a junk yard and got the bosch l-jet plugs they plug right in.

**** I guess I'm just dumb, the 550s were high and the 720s were low, got confused sorry for the forum flame, i deserve a flame now:

You can use low-impedence fuel injectors in a car originally designed to use high-impedence fuel injectors by running some 20-watt, 10-ohm resistors. You can use high-impedence fuel injectors in a car originally designed to use low-impedence fuel injectors by jumping the fuel injectors resistor block located at the front, passenger side of the engine bay.

Newby 7, slow revs

I finally got help from one of your members. This was great beacuse I got the fuel pump cut off instaled etc. This car runs but acts like it has about 50 hp. It drives down the street and will go to 7k rpms but it is slowwwwwww. I wonder if there is a timing deviceon the trailing plug?
Anyway I would love to sell the entire car for about 5-700, as I am very frustrated with it.

Dude go buy a multimeter before you burn something up. The power wire to the injector is what gets the resistor.

Also, the 10 watt ones will not work. Your car will run like total ****.

PS I've posted like three times in your injector threads telling you what to do, am I on ignore or something?

Isn't he running a chance of frying the ecu running LI injectors on a HI system?

I thought it didn't matter which wire the resistor went on.

Turn the key ON. Set your meter to the proper DC volt range. Stick the ground probe to the ground bolt on the firewall, or to one of the strut tower nuts (if it will reach). Probe each of the two wires on an injector plug with the positive lead of the meter and see which one has 12V. That is the wire that gets the resistor. The injectors get constant 12V, the ECU grounds them to make them pulse.

As for the 20 watt resistors, I bought some at Radio Shack, but I had no luck with them either. Most people seem to though. I used a resistor pack off an 86 FC because I had it laying around.

what about the heat of the engine? should I find which one goes where on the ECU plug? or should I just install them near the injector, some people have told me it is possible to blow the resistor from heat, is this true? or is it safe enough to just wrap them up a shitload of time with electrical tape, one more thing where on the car can I find the resistor pack?

p.s. I really do appricaite the time and patience you have given to my stupid brain...

Download one of the FSM's and look for the injector wires on the plugs to the ECU. I think the resistors would survive better in there.

I had mine hooked up in the stock place with different power wires run to the injectors. Truly the ghetto way.

On a pre-87.5 car, it will be on the passenger side fender well, underneat the stock air box. It is an aluminum box looking thing, with one plug that has a 5 prong connector on it. It is held on by two 10mm bolts.

They do not exist on any car after June (maybe July?) of 87.

so do I unscrew it to get to the resistors or do I just plug it in somewhere else...
