Injector Question for 87 TII

Ok well my engine is being installed right now and they said I need new injectors. What size for primary and secondary do I need? I plan on going for ~300 hp or more eventually. Also I need all the specs, I can't remember right now but I know there were other things about the injectors like certain kinds ect, hopefully you know what im talking about... also with bigger injectors and fuel pump will I need a s-afc2?

Some 7's came with low impadence injectors while others came with high impadence. I'm not to sure about the difference but I do know that you have to have the right ones for your wiring harness. The wrong ones won't fit. Other people should be able to help you out with more info.

if you upgrade you injectors you better have some way to controll it.. safc or Pfc-Fcon with GCC ... and you are gonna need to get it tuned.

what im doing is running a walbro pump and Pfc-Fcon. once i get a bigger turbo (im looking at the stage 2 or 3 from bnr) then i will get injectors and a FMIC.

i dont think you need bigger injectors till you go big turbo... but if you just want to have them already..
im no expert but i THINK you will be able to controll them fine with a safc and dyno tuning is how you get it set.

hope i helped...
even a little

i need to get all new injectors right now and I don't really wanna get stock ones and then get upgraded ones soon... so I guess I should get a s-afc and upgraded ones... does anyone know if its high impotence or low for an 87 TII? and what size primaries and secondaries should I get?

How do "they" know you need new injectors?

I would skip the piggyback ECU's and get a standalone in the first place, if I had to do it all over again.

BTW, it's low impedence for your car...

It depends on when it was built, the early ones were low, the later ones were high. Look by your passenger headlight under the intake box for the injector resistor pack. If it's there, then you have low impedence injectors.

All 88's are high impedance, the mid year break was in 87.

I think this is excellent advice, but not everyone can afford to drop 1000 dollars at once. I'll make so with the safc until I can afford a lt8.

If you just have to pass a dyno smogger I don't see what the problem with having a stand alone would be.

Well I guess im gonna stick with the stock injectors since those cost frickin 120 to 200 per injector. The guy told me that when he pulled the original injectors out they were all gummed up and pretty much useless.

i paid $60 canadian for my 680cc gslse injectors and another $20 canadian each to get them professionally cleaned. dont get brand new stock injectors.
as for standalone, i paid $365CAD for my safc. thats 240 USD. a standalone is too much compared to that. when you actually have the goal set on what you want to do and have the other parts then id get a standalone. why get one if you just want a quick little street car.

The stock injectors with a high-flow pump will handle 300hp (at 80% duty cycle), but slightly upgraded secondaries would give you a little more headroom if you wanted it. 1st Gen 680's would be an easy swap and give you 12% more capacity, but you will definitely need some form of control.
The guy told me that when he pulled the original injectors out they were all gummed up and pretty much useless.
Gummed up does not mean useless. Send them to a progessional injector cleaner and let them decide if they can be reconditioned. I'd be very surprised if they can't.

stock injectors are 550cc, primary and secondary.

try Rich @ www.cruzinperformance.com

They charge $11/ea to clean, blueprint, balance ,blah, blah, the usual service that everyone else does for a lot cheaper. I had my primaries done by them and the total came to ~$28 including shipping.

Ask BNR how much power the turbo will make and at what boost. Select injectors based on the expected power output.
