I have a '90 na and as of late, during it's initial cold start, as the Rpms decline from 2500 Rpm the car would sputter/pop intermittently. However, once it has warmed up and reached its normal operating temperature the popping would cease. Any information on why this is happening and whether this a telltale sign of something worst to follow will be greatly appreciated.

is it like little pops during idle?

 

yup...that's exactly what it is. Sporadic little pops that occur while it's idling during it's initial start. More or less at around 2000 Rpms.
