Actually that would be quite easy to do with a pair of relays, but if you drove around with you indicators on all the time people would just think your car's broken. Just like sleepy-eye headlights!
That way people cant bitch about it looking like "80s styled T birds" and **** like that.
I dunno why people think this way. Mazda have been using four round taillights since the 60's, on the RX-2, RX-3, RX-4 (sort of), and the S7 and S8 RX-7's. But nobody looks at T'birds and says "that looks like a Mazda"! Besides, the S5 lights look a lot less 80's than the S4 lights, especially since round taillights have become popular on modern cars again.

i would do a writeup on how to do that

but personally i think that would be ugly. there are some integs i see now and then that have that going on. i like blinker lights that are red anyways.

you know how some camaros (the old style) have turn signals where each light turns off and on in a sequence? and there are three of them i think? so it goes inside-middle inside-outside... what if you did that on a S5? that might look ugly but it is an interesting idea.

Hmmm... you could use the box from an old Cougar, if you wanted the sequential lights...

Exactly how would you use a relay in this? The only way i can think of, and im probably wrong (deffinatly not an automotive electritian by anymeans) would be to have the lights hard wired in with the switch that turns the rear lamps on (not the brake lamps, just the rear running lamps) and then having the relay wired in, somewhat, in series with the blinker... *******.. whats it called, on well, the thing that makes it blink (in the fuse box). seems like a bitch to me, but.. what do i know. Anyone wanna explain an easier way? Thanks

-TheAnalogKid-- THAT IS EXACTLY THE PICTURE I WAS TALKING ABOUT! Thanks man! I can now see though, that the orange light is a bit brighter than the regular running lights

I was thinking about the sequential turn signal too. It looks bitchin' on any car with a row of tail lights. What you need to do it is a pair of "dynamite sticks" from Tony D. Branda (Shelby and Mustang Supplier). I think that's what they're called, other people sell them too under different names. And don't ever let anybody say that the round tailights are stupid. Look at the '73 Charger, All Corvettes, and new Impalas, all with round tailights. As a matter of fact I have a '88 Turbocoupe T-bird and the lights are awesome on those things.

Man, i dont care what anyone thinks... S5Tails are just plain nice. I personally dont like the rectangle look of the S4...just too plain/outdated looking. (yes,.. i know that S5 are round and that every car and its mothers car has/had round tail lights from every era) BUT, the S5 lights have no black suround all over them. If the S4 lights didnt have the black outline all over the place, and were just like a solid peice of taillight plastic they might be ok. Am i making any sence?

Oh I know... and thats fine I don't hold it against anyone that they like the S5 lights, I just think the S4 lights follow the classic RX-7 look, that started with the SA and then the FB. But it really is all just personal preferance. I'll still shake your hand and say "nice taste in cars" if we meet in person.

I have actually been playing with an idea on the S4 lights. Replacing the black trim with tinted plastic that also replaces the lenses. Something that updates the look, but doesn't fall into the rusty boat trailer round lens look or Altenza look that you see on almost every car made for the last couple of years.

Now THAT is what im talking about. Me and my freind were just discussing that just a min ago. i was telling him about messing around with the idea of taking the S5 lens and slaping it on the S4 frame. he informed me that would be impossible due to the fact that the S5 lenses are shaded in certian areas (to form the circle pattern, i thought the circle pattern was from the internal lights themselves.. shows how much i know ) so much for that idea

Anyways, Icemark, If you do succeed in makeing/finding a plastic cover for the S4 lights, let me know, ill take one.
