Implications Of Pulling Power Steering

What exactly happens when you remove the powersteering? How difficult would steering be without it? Also, once you remove the A/C an P/S, do you just remove the belts, and that is it, or do you need to modify the belt system with more or less pulleys?

if you wanna take the p/s out then first try turning the steering wheel with the car off. thats how it will feel w/ it out, but if its out and the car is moving its much easier. then i'd say just take the belt off before you removed the system to see how you liked it.

not really sure what you mean by modifying the belt system. each accessory has its own belt so it is just removed from p/s or a/c. the pulleys are on the p/s pump and a/c compressor so dont worry about them

i just took my p/s and a/c out. its made quite a difference. the car feels much better when im driving it. i like the way it feels. its only hard when your not moving, which is not very often i hope! i could pick up a subtle power gain, but nothing that will shave secs of your e.t.. and dont forget the weight, those suckers weight alot!! its all around my best mod yet...

arrrrgg

stupid nopi arggg

i've been waiting on bushings for 2 months, I have a manual rack that will be replacing my non P/S car. The car has a more sensitive feel with out power steering and a little more power, but it is harder to turn in a parking lot than the auctual manual rack.

When I removed my power steering I removed the pump, lines, and cooler. I tapped the holes in the rack with a 3/8" NPT tap and plugged them up. I left the fluid in there. The effort is about the same as an FC with a manual rack.
