I'm a transmission noob, can someone help?
As you may know, my friend just purchased a TurboII. I posted last week that we were going to replace the bushings in both our cars, but I don't know how to use the link to get to it, you'll just have to search...anyway, we replaced the bushings, and BOY! does it feel 200 times better in my car and his. It also made his 5th gear problem a little better, but did not solve it like we had hoped.
Unfortunately, his car will still not go into 5th gear while moving forward. He is still getting used to driving standard, so I hopped into his car and this is what I've come across: While the car is stopped (either idling or turned off) I can put it into 5th, something that wasn't possible before we replaced the bushings. If it's idling, I can put it in 5th and let out the clutch, and it will grab and start to move. HOWEVER, if I put the car in 1st, start moving, then try to shift into 5th (even at that low speed), it is physically not there.
I can't hold it in 5th and let out the clutch--it will act as if it's in neutral. It seems that whenever the car is in motion, I can't shift into 5th gear. I have heard the words "synchros" and "bearings" but I have never taken apart a tranny before...can someone reply and tell me what is the next step? Should we tae out the trannsmission and rebuild it (or have it rebuilt by someone else); or should we just find another TurboII tranny? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a transmission for you that has been rebuilt recently(me and my dad did it) but it still has a couple problems that do not adversely affect daily driving. I put 300 in parts in this tranny, I want 175 + shipping.
