there is a temp sensor on top of the water pump right next to the alternator on my T2. well there is no wire going to it at all, there isnt one coming out of the ECU wiring harness anywhere. i know the one on the back side of the w/p housing is supposed to be the "main" sensor so do i need this sensor with the missing wire? i know my temp gauge can make a full sweep on the gauge so i dont think it affects the gauge. should i be worried that this wire is nowhere to be found and try to track it down in the bundle of wires coming through the firewall? or should i not be too worried and leave it alone.
yes you need that. I'm surprised the car runs. I left that unpluged once and it wouldn't start.
edit: wait you gota s5 engine? what ecu are you running? the S5 has 2 sensors there. one is important. if you are running the S4 ecu or harness it won't use the 2nd one. that is for the stock mini electic fan infront of the rad.

yeah, car cranks and runs just fine. im confused by it myself. there is just this bare connector on top of my water pump, no wire at all will fit it or reach it. my first T2 had the wire, but ive never really paid attention to other FCs. were there variations in the cars? mine seems to run just fine without it. although it is running terribley rich.
