Im lost!!! S5 Na wont start
first things,
its a stock 1990 gxl, only thing changed is the stock air cleaner to a k&n cone
I've check as many things as I can, but I still cant get this thing to start. It ran fine one day and the next it wouldn’t start. My dad and I check the codes and it only gave me a code 11, intake air thermosensor error. now I don’t think that would prevent it from starting would it? I’ve also had a problem with my alarm; it would go off randomly when armed. I replaced the left inside door handle/power lock and now the alarm doesn’t seem to work. The car cranks over but no start, almost as if it’s out of gas. So we sprayed starter fluid in the intake to see if it was a fuel issues but it didn’t phase it, so we were thinking it was an ignition issue. As far as testing the ignition, we tested the coils and they are fine, the ecu is putting out .7v to the leading coil, I’m not sure if it needs more volts. I’m totally at a loss here because I don’t have any place I can take this to be worked on around here. So if anyone could help point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it

The LEAD coil has a small white plug with two sockets. One wire is black/yellow. IT should have 12vdc when the key is put to ON.
Ignore the other wire in that two socket plug.
No 12vdc means the ENGINE fuse in the interior is busted. OR one of the EGI fuses in the engine bay fuse box is busted.
IF you have 12vdc on that black/yellow wire, then the car is flooded. Pull the plug on the fuel pump and spin the engine for ten or so seconds. Then spray the starter fluid into the air fliter for two to three seconds and start the engine. It'll only run for a couple of seconds. Repeat. Then put the fuel pumps plug back on and spray and start the engine. It'll smoke for a few moments burning the excess fuel off.

i had probablomes with starting my engine for a while and i it ended up being the battery and the starter at the same time. if you want my advice, find a hill and take your car to the top of it. push start it, if it runs then i would check those, if it doesn't run... do a compression test.... as bad as it sounds, i did an in and out to get to my tranny, put the thing back in and it ran great for freaking two hours and all of a sudden (no bang, no explosion or anything) it started running like total ***, the next day it wouldnt start and eventully when i did get it started it would barley hold idle. of course, on the brighter side it could possibly be your spark plug order or your air intake meter sensor, make sure to check those before proceeding to anything els. questions jsut pm me
