Im looking at something, need your advice on pricing

I have a guy in my city selling a 1990 TII body complete with no engine.

My current body needs work, and although I've finished half of it, it would still be worthwhile to get one thats mint!

So question is, how much is it worth?
It still has the tranny and diff in it and all that, just the engine is missing. Assuming its mint, what would you guys pay for it realistically. I don't want to lowball the guy, but I also of course don't want to pay to much for it.
I could really use this, I was thinking maybe 1000$cndn or so? maybe more, what do you guys think?

thank you.

$300-500 for a rolling chassis, depending on the condition.

BTW, "mint" means the condition is exactly as delivered by the factory or sold at the dealer's showroom. A synonym for "mint" is "uncirculated", which means not used. There is no such thing as a "mint" used car that has been driven on the street.

im sure by mint he means there is absolutely nothing wrong with it even though it has been driven. i think it would be realy hard to find a body in that kind of shape so ya i owuld expect to pay about a grand

No paint fading, no chips, no dents, no road tar, no oxidation, no way.

i just picked up a 88 TII friday for 800 bucks that ran. It only has 2 small dents on the outside and everything is perfect on the interior. So id probally say around the 300 range for just the body.

"Coins with no wear at all are referred to as uncirculated or in mint state (MS)."
http://www.centercoin.com/coin_infor...ding_coins.htm

"Mint - Sometimes a name used for a coin that is in 'Mint' (or as struck) condition. Usually used by novices as the official Uncirculated and other grades are preferred."

Yea, I was using *mint as a generalization of good condition. When I say it, I mean theres nothing wrong really, other than small minor things.

This is great guys! thank you! I'll ask him what he wants, and go from there. I really appreciate the input.

i think you're more knowledgeable than 90% of the people that replied... including this one... but if it's beautiful inside i still wouldn't pay more than 1000 CDN for a motorless car.
Having a car to part out is nice thow too... you can sell LSD and suspension parts fo sho to people...

vgc might be a more apropriate term (very good condition).

Besides, don't most mints go in the mouth?

Listen to the reports of what the cars sell for. When they start having engine trouble people dump them quick.......The one your looking at doesn't have engine trouble.....get it? If you can get a good & for less than $1000 and it runs why would you pay that for a car with now motor??? I mean one with a blown motor has all the parts....at least.

I want it for the body, not the engine. It has no engine. If it has a good condition body and everything is nice and clean, **** I'll take that for a grand or less. Why? cause my current body is in bad shape. I can repair it, but it will look nowhere near as good as one that has not been damaged. The body has 86 000 miles on it.

I'm going to round up some money here, and when I have it in my pocket then I'll call the guy and talk to him. I'll go down and take a look and see what its like. If its rusted and ****, **** it, but if its good I'll probably pick it up.

with only 86k I might be coaxed into a couple o' hundred more. 500-600. Maybe if its as clean as you claim.

Sounds right though, somebody just driving it now and then and seals dry up from lack of use. That is probably why the motor is gone.

That is the very reason I bought mine. It was soo clean. But everything was dry. Top needs to be replaced Seats are dry and cracked...need to be replaced. The motor seals were dry and cracked (notice past tense). But the body and running gear are flawless.
