NJ I'm getting an 86 n/a anything i should know?

So this guy i work with is giving me a 86 n/a manual. It's been sitting since 2000 but it looks to be in great condition, just a couple small spots of rust and the interior needs a good cleaning. Under the hood looks pretty clean besides some animals home. The car has 154,xxx miles on it and it has the original engine (guy takes great care of his cars). I did some reading up on how to properly remove the car from storage so I'm all good on that one (basics anyway). I was just wondering if you 2nd gen guys have any tips for me (I currently have a 3rd gen project underway). I plan a DD'in the car. If you need to know anything else that might help out you diagnosis let me know and I'll do my best to provide you with the info.

Oh also looking for a champagne drivers side door locally for it in case anyone has one (just testing the waters on this one).

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan, short of replacing all fluids, belts, hoses, filters, vacuum lines, having gas tank cleaned, injectors cleaned (www.witchhunter.com), spark plugs and wires changed, i would get into a full brake and wheel bearing inspection. check all bulbs in and out and check the suspension for any worn hard parts or bushings. consider an alignment if you are going to use the car as a daily driver. you may want to clean and grease your window tracks as well as door switches. for shouts and laughs, you may want to run a compression test as well.

^ That about covers it. For the maintenance stuff, I'd get a Haynes manual and turn to chapter 1. Easy guide. Do it all, unless you know it's been done already.

How do you go about cleaning out the gas tank? Since i would be going to undertake that myself.

I am going to be replacing any maintenance parts that would be necessary to get the car going/ stopping .

More than just getting the car up and running i was wondering what i should know about the car in general. Any tips on the car itself/ quarks about the car.

Also what do you think the total cost of getting the car running would be (rough estimate)?

Thread cleaned and closed.

Take it to PMs or Good Guy/Bad Guy. There is no place for this in the technical forums.
