The haynes is pretty basic, I'd agree, but its instructions are really all you'll need.
-remove the exhaust
-remove the driveshaft
-drain tranny of fluid or put a bag with elastiocs around output end
-unplug wiring and speedo cable
-remove shifter
-remove clutch slave cylinder
-remove tranny bolts and tranny mount stuff
-slide tranny down and out
-unbolt old flywheel, bolt on new one.
-follow above in reverse.
I recommend getting the flywheel resurfaced while you're at it.
I also recommend renting a tranny jack. They'll make it a lot easier than trying to benchpress it in.
It may take some work to get the tranny back in, just wiggle it around until it slides in.
clutch kit should include clutch disc, pressure plate, T/O bearing, and a clutch instalation tool
Don't bolt on a clutch without this tool.
If you have or can get the tools, change the pilot bearing and seal while you're at it.

T/O bearing isn't bolted on, it'll just slide off.
Tool is used for alignment of the disc when you bolt on the pressure plate, and is afterwards removed. It isn't actually used for adjusting anything.
You can't just look at the flywheel and see if it needs resurfacing. you need to check it for any runout and check if the surface is flat. Cannot really be done with precision tools. Just get it resurfaced, regardless.
Tranny doesn;t need draining, just pop a bag over the end with some elastics.

i just got a new clutch in (guy i got the car from said he would pay for installation since he "didnt know it was bad"... works for me) and its a Clutchmasters StageII clutch, and the T/O bearing makes a "click click, or cherp cherp cherp" noise when the clutch is out. I pulled the fork lever (whatever it us) tward the slave cyl (disengauge it more) and it went away (obviously it would). Is is miss adjusted now and should be pulled more away to keep the t/o bearing from cherping on the fingers of the pressure plate? If its fine, i can deal with the noise, i just dont want to wear anything out, third clutch with only 63K on the clock (all previous owner) so im kinda paranoid about everything.. Thanks guys, sorry so lengthy.

The tranny only holds 2.6 quarts, not 8!

Roy, you may want to try bleeding the slave cylinder and see if that helps move the rod out some to stop the TO bearing from tweeting.

Thanks man, but i rebuilt the slave last nite, no results, its smoother, but didnt help/hurt the tweeting. Its when i pull the fork tward the slave cy that i get the tweet out, its not touching the slave cyl rod at all, seems to have slack in it, if i push it tward the slave cyl rod and make the two touch, it goes away, ... i was thinking about some how connecting the two.. but.... if the tweeting isnt hurting anything F-it, im just afraid its going to wear away at the fingers or something silly like that. Thanks again

2 1/8'' will fit the nut too, that is an easier socket to find.
