Ignition timing 13b 87 rx7
Ignition timing 13b 87 rx7
My rebuilt engine is currently backfiring and won't start when pop starting it!
My question is could the timing be 180 degres out?
How do you know when number one rotor is on its compression stroke?
When crank pulley is set at first notch "yellow", and crank angle sensor is set to spec.--"line and dot" if you spin it one full revolution and bring it back to the notch--the "line and dot" --do not line up!

You do know that when the cas is installed in the housing that it's inevitable for the cas's shaft to turn. That means the bottom gear with its dot does not line up anymore with the fixed line on the cas's body.
You must remove the top of the cas and observe a fixed place on the cas body and just about any tooth you care to pick out. Then stab the cas (it'll turn) but now you move the cas body in which ever direction it takes to align the tooth you picked and the fixed place oppostite it. Now you know the bottom gear's dot is once again aligned with the mark on the cas's body down there.
