Ignition-related idle problem

I've got an 88 GXL that misses quite a bit at idle. I've hooked a timing light up, and I can watch L1 miss in time with the misses I hear. T1 also seems to miss in time, but L2 doesn't seem to (which is strange, it should if L1 does). I also removed the CAS inspection cover and pointed the timing light at it. Along with missing, I could see T1 being off by somewhere around 60 degrees occassionally, and T2 was occassionally off by one tooth (one Ne tooth that is).

I've checked the resistance of all three ignition coils, and they are good. I've also checked the resistance of the pickup coils on the CAS - good. Ignition parts are quite expensive, so I don't want to blow a grand replacing everything, and I don't have access to an oscilloscope anymore (doh!).

Oh, and I'm also under a bit of pressure to get this done, since my registration is coming due and I need to smog the car before I can re-register.

I've also read the De-mystifying RX-7 Ignition FAQ.

Suggestions please?

Update:

Mainly just for gits and shiggles I pulled the ECU (N327). Right away I noticed two burned out components, 821 and 951. Capacitors? Anyway, I'll dig around and see if I can find what they do. Just thought I'd share.

Cheers!

According to this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=951
it appears that 951 is a 3.9 ohm resistor. Does anyone know if 821 is the same? They look similar, but the labels are burned off both.

Thanks!

So is there anyone in the SF Bay area who has a dead ECU they'd care to donate to the cause of getting mine working?

I've got a calif. emis. ECU that I bought (not knowing it was ca em) .. I'm in Florida, but I'll ship it to ya if you can't find one in your area (just cover shipping .. and maybe a stiff drink).

Let me know.
