fc3 died while running, help.
i was driving to work a few days ago when all of a sudden my car turned off and died in the highway. the engine went off but the lights didnt. i still had lights. i pulled of to the side of the road and waited about 30 seconds and tried to restart.
after 30 seconds the car turned back on with no problems. i was accelarating nicely as if nothing had happened. so i kept going. (no lost of power or anything like that)
about 5 miles down the road the car shut off again. only this time it didnt want to turn back on. so after getting a tow back home. i tried to recharge and put another battery to see if it was the battery. it didnt turn on.
so my brother-in-law who knows nothing about rotors suggested that i test the starter. not knowing what it was myself i decided to take it to autozone for a free check up. they said that the starter was bad. but before i spend 104.00 dollars on a new starter i need to know from other rotary guys out there, if its possible for a car to die while running because the starter happened to go bad at that moment. im thinking that once the starter does its job and turns the car on its done. its no longer working until the next time you try to start the car again. im i wrong? can this happened? has anybody had any experience or known anybody who has had this happened to them.
thank you guy in advance for the help. i really need to get the car moving again. im driving my wifes neon to work and its not pretty.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
a bad starter will not kill the car while it is driving.
When the car died, did just the engine die, or was it everything (including radio, clock, lights etc)???

You should also check your battery - I had my car do some stupid stuff like dying while running, and it turned out the battery decided to turn into junk over the course of a few hours. Didn't hold a charge, but was drawing a LOT of current trying to charge. The alternator just couldn't keep up.
