Ignition mod
I really hate to be the "SEARCH" ****, but if you search for "Jacobs fc1000" there are a LOT of threads, including several that link to a FC-specific writeup, with detailed pictures. It doesn't get much better than that.

Honestly I think the only time its really worth it is when your running far more air into the engine than normal. More air means that the stock ignition may not be able to spark off the compression stroke, especially at high RPM's. For a stock port/turbo setup, I honestly don't think that its really worth it.
They said in the article that it increases low end torque and stuff, but im curious to know if anyone here has done it and seen a dyno difference with a stock/lightly modded setup?

Mazda did it and published their findings.
It was translated and published in an SAE paper - http://www.sae.org/
They saw 8ps increase just with the CDI.

Is Crane Hi-6 superior to a Jacobs just asking? I noticed its cheaper on most sites and can retard ignition. Does the Jacobs have an ignition retard.
(I hate to jack threads, sorry).

I think Jacobs products are overhyped cr*p!
The Crane Cams HI-6 was one of my favorites before they started to jack the price up!
MSD's equivalent is the Digital-6, and that thing is expensive!
Well, now it makes the HI-6 look like a bargain. :P
Check out the Malloy Hy-Fire VI boxes.
They are pretty damn cheap.
I've got one customer using it, and it's been working pretty good so far.
