It’s actually quite complicated to do it properly, as turning the key to the start position does more than just put power to the starter circuit. It shuts off the IG2 circuit so non-essentials aren’t being run while cranking. I think there’s some other stuff too. These operations are built into the ignition switch, so making it all work properly would be a major PITA. IMO you’ve wasted your money. Sorry!

Even though the "start" position on the ignition stops other accessories, I cant imagine any major probs would occur by just splicing into the signal wire to the starter.

Just find that wire(1 of 3) on the starter and splice the switch inline with it.

Goodluck!

There are nine wires going to the ignition switch!
The start one is black with a red stripe. Putting the button inline won’t work (then you’d have to use the key and the button!), it would be wired across the start wire and the black battery wire.

You still have to turn the key though, so what’s the point?

I have been runing a push button starter switch on my N/A for at least 9 months now. I didn't want to fug with the neutral saftey & clutch engagment switches when I swapped my auto tranny for a manual. I have no problems at all with my setup. I turn the ignition to the on postition & crank my starter with a directly wired switch with a inline fuse. I brought my wire in from the shifter area.... mounted it on the side of the shifter plastic & wired it directly to the starter silinoid.

Its looks clean (no wires showing) and saved a hell of alot of time. It's kinda a **** rig... but hell its not my baby, its my daily.
