Ok guys, I have had some fuel issues with my car on start up.
With the key in the on position I go to push the cone in and nothing happens. I can jumper the connected for the fuel pump and I can hear it, but nothing happens when I push the cone in.
My old harness was cracked so I spliced a new one into the wires but I also left the wire that was insulated with the insulation hanging out. Ill take a pic later.
But shouldnt my fuel start pumping once I push the cone in?

And if it isnt then something is wrong with my AFM? It did the same thing on my other AFM.
So it must be in the plug? Or that insulation for the wire that I left dangling maybe?
Could this be the reason for me having starting issues?

I don't think pressing it in is enough to switch the fuel pump on. The S5 FSM doesn't list the E1 or Fc terminals like the S4 FSM does (fuel pump switch). The two AFMs work differently, so it wouldn't surprise me if you need actual airflow to trigger it.
Check the resistance values of your AFM per the FSM, if you're worried about it being bad. It's in the fuel and emissions section.
