then shouldnt the engine still be able to idle, even if its a rough idle? just something that was being tossed around in my head....

reason i ask... i can get her started and drive her, but if i let off the gas and let the rpms fall... shell stall out...

Side seal failure is very rare. It shows up as a loss of compression on only one rotor face.

The engine will run but will miss when it hits that face. Generally the result is a poor idle but it can be very hard to notice...

so my idle problem lies elsewhere?

we did, but i dont know if somethings wrong with the tester or maybe were doing something wrong...... technicly the engine shouldnt be running at all with that low of readings correct?

that is some seriously low compression, how are you even getting the motor running?

if those numbers are true then look into rebuilding the motor not starting new threads asking why the engine doesn't run right.

evein with a single side seal failed the engine would be hard pressed to idle, it may if you jacked up the idle set screws but it would idle rather erratically.

i couldnt tell you... the motor does run tho and i can drive the car... its just that the car seems like it doesnt try to idle, i have to hold the gas down to keep the rpms from falling to zero and stalling out... it doesnt seem like a problem like a bad side seal would keep the car from idleing what so ever...

well if you are unsure then have someone who has compression tested a rotary check it.

all we can do is go with the info you are providing, if the info is innacurate then our guesses will be just as innacurate.
