If it aint one thing, it's another...
About eight years ago, my wife decided to buy an FC. I told her to get a stick. "But I can’t drive a stick,” she replies. End of discussion. The car was nothing but trouble, and she eventually gave up on it when the drive shaft broke. She bought a New Beetle, and the RX-7 sat for 5 years. I put about a year of work into the car, and with help from lurking on this forum, and my blood, sweat and tears, I got the car running. Running well, I might add. (Thanks everyone) There’s always and exception though. There has been a clunking sound whenever I press hard on the accelerator, or quickly release it while going over 40. Today, it clunked its last. Coming off the freeway, it clunked, then whined, and wouldn’t shift passed 2nd. I can’t go past 40 without taking it up to redline. It also refuses to go into reverse. It looks like I’m going to be looking for a new AT, because the manual swap just looks beyond my capabilities, unless I can find someone who can weld.
Anyhoo, thanks for listening to my whining. If anyone has any suggestions, all will be appreciated. Or if there's anyone available in the SF Bay area, I"ve got free beer (The good stuff)

Thanks for bringing up the question Icemark, after re-reading the thread, I should be able to make the brackets. Now the question is, does anyone know how to verify if a manual trans is good or not while sitting in the junk yard with limited tools?
