idling problem

Question idling problem

i have an 86 mazda gxl. i turn it on and it goes to 4000-5000 rpm's. i can not get it to come down to save my life. it doesn't matter if its hot or cold it stays at that rpm all the time and its annoying as hell any thoughts guys?

Hmmm...Is there anything you've checked yet, or adjusted?...

There are also 2 or 3 threads a day on this, do a quick search & you'll dig up all kinds of ideas...

the car has a weird mod. it has 12a headers that were welded to fit. but now i see two hoses hanging by what seems to be two actuators above the exhaust

check your throttle cable and TB linkages.

The hoses might be from your 5th &6th-port actuators, but I have no idea why they're hanging there, unless an open exhaust was installed, and the guy didn't want to hook up an alternative air source to activate the actuators...
