idling problem

i just bought an 89 FC3S and it had an overheating problem. i replaced radiator and fixed that. replaced oil, spark plugs, air filter and battery. i used synthetic 10w-30 catrol synthetic. i use 91 chevron gas. the car wont idle and has no power untill it gets somewhere over 3k rpms. also when i use the brake the rpms are a little erratic under 2k untill i come to a stop. to keep the car from dieing i hold my foot on the gas. BTW it is an auto (something of which will be changed out to manule later on). im thinking it could be the timing but im not sure. any suggestions?

P.S. please if you use acronyms put the full name in parenthesis as i am a newb with rx-7s and rotarys in general.

Thanks ahead to everyone for their help.

Ben

Kinda, and i emphasize the word KINDA, sounds like my 90 GTU. But now it is parked awaiting a new engine. Do a compression test.

Check and make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks.
