idling issues and backfires

so i have an fc its my first rx7 so im still a little new to it so anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. so i start my car and it idles ok sometimes at about 1200 to 1500 rpm. but when i try to rev t out it stumbles really hard or it backfires sometime. it revs out just fine at about 1/4 throttle but if i give it wop it will just stumble or die so i was wondering maybe a timing issue, tps calibration? (also at the currnet moment it is running straight downpipe dont really know if that would create any issues)

TPS would be a good place to start. Possibly even MAF sensor, they are both common problems related to idling.
