Idling at 2grand!!!!!!!!

Hey, I have tried and tried to change my idle because I just bought an 87 rx7 and the car was idling at 3grand at first. However, after I changed the radiator and alternator and belt and crap it dropped to only 2grand. To be honest I'm not sure how they are related to each other because I am new to working on cars and I am doing everything from an rx7 rebuild manual. I tried turning the idle screw all the way down, but it only went to 1.75rpm.... so if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it because I dont want my engine to blow because it is pretty good condition and only has 50K on it... which is like new to me.
