Idlers interchangeable on S4 & S5??

Just wondering if idler pulleys can be interchanged between S4 and S5? That's the two idlers for P/S and A/C. They look the same except the locknut appears bigger on the A/C idler for S5. Reason I ask, the S4 has one where you can not replace the bearing and I wanted to swap it to an S5 idler.

I've changed the bearings out on multiple S4 idlers, and I've also had some with different sized nuts. They've all appeared generally the same on S4 and S5 engines I've had, so I would bet they're interchangeable.

Hmmmm....I've changed the bearings in my S5 and one pulley on the S4, but it looks like one (forget which one now?) has the bearing encasesd within the pulley so it can't be removed. And I'm not talking about the one with the big snap ring. I guess I should take a closer look this weekend.

Looking back, I think I may have seen one like you've mentioned. Did it have the smaller nut, and no snap-ring at all? At any rate, I had an extra pulley lying around that I used in place of it, and that one had a replaceable bearing.

Yeah, that's it. Bearing was encased in it (Pulley). I ran across the pulleys in Mazdatrix and they show 87'-on as the same. I'll try and find a used one I can change the bearing in because Mazda is way overpriced!

He should have a better price than your local dealership and even beats out Mazdatrix most of the time.
