Idle Speed Adjustment

I have a 1988 RX7 service manual but these pictures don't really help at all.

I've been stalling because the RPM's just drops down to 500 and shuts off and it's an automatic GXL FC3s

So I thought I'd adjust the Idle speed and get this problem fixed.

I just took some pictures:

There's a couple of screws but which is the one that controls the idle speed?
hope the pictures helps

i think the top pic screw has something to do with air flow i think????? i read it last night in my haynes manual. maybe if you adjusted the tps screw the idle problem would go away. i adjusted mine, everytime i pushed the clutch in the rpms would drop causing the car to stall. since then all is good.

The TPS screw is directly in the middle of your engine.

Here's a writeup I used to check mine.

It's the screw right smack on top of your TB but be carefull becuase after all these years the rubber seal around the screw get's worn and if you tighten or screw it too fast you can cause an air leak.

Yes the 1st pic shows the idle screw but you need to locate the initial set coupler on the driver fender between the engine fuses and headlight and then use a jumper wire before turning the idle screw. Also, you need to make sure the engine is fully warmed up, plus since your car is an automatic the 750 rpm idle speed needs to be set with the transmission in "neutral." Lastly, find a level place to put the car into neutral instead of having someone hold the brake down because in some instances pressing down on the brake can cause the idle to change and you won't be able to set it accurately.

There's also a good chance your BAC isn't connected up or isn't working. Take its elec plug off and see if one or both sockets in the elect plug are pushed back or not.
