idle problems please help

Question idle problems please help

my car will eather be at perfect idle or around 1500 and then it will bounce up to 1700 and back down to 1500. it is completely random when she decides not to idle right. if anybody has any idea what is wrong w/ my baby please help me...thanks alot dan

try using the search, idle problems are covered here everyday. But search for adjusting the TPS and the Idle set screw, 1500 is double what you shouyld be idling at

sounds like the TPS is eaither out of adjustment or it's on it's way out.Do a seach there are all kinds of wrightups for TPS adjustments.You will need a digital muti meter to set the TPS correctly.

actually many people including myself prefere a analog multimeter because not only will you be able to adjust the tps you'll be able to make sure it's not goin bad by seeing if it make the needle sweep smoothly

And others like to use a Fluke 124 Scopemeter

But for ease of adjustment a little tiny, twelve buck mulitmeter from RatShack will do just fine. Just set the meter on dc volts, back probe the green/red wire at the tps connector, turn the key to ON with a fully hot engine and adjust the screw to one volt. Done.
