Idle Problem

I have a 90 GXL. Once you get it started it wants to die unless you feather the throttle even if it is warmed up and to regular idle. It only does it when you come to a stop and are at idle. Seeking some help Thanks.

i have a 1990 rx-7 gxl..it will not idle..its not a sensor for the fact that you can run it and no cut outs nothing..it has a light weight flywheel, stage1 clutch,apexi air\fuel controller(that has been tuned correctly)cool air intake,ect..the norm..if you come to a stop and push in clutch it just drops and dies,but will start bak up no prob..jus have to stay on the throttle..i dont kno nothing about rottary engines..and jus got car..guy said he put in 3mm apex seals..i want to get started on turbo..if you could any suggestions on that too..plz reply!

check your cold starter and check for some air leaks... or maybeyour idle control is switched too low

Threads merged... only start one thread per subject per member. Multiple threads for the same problem make you look like an idiot.


And have you checked the TPS yet? Most idle problems are related to the TPS or vacuum leaks.

And if you can't figure out an simple idle issue, or even spell Rotary, then you should not be considering a Turbo or Turbo engine swap, because you are way way over your head on that.

as Icemark stated, yes.. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).. i had this issue.. supposedly you can make your own TPS checkin thing.. dont remember where... or you can purchase one at banzairacing under FC3S products. they have a TPS tester, comes in handy... had to readjust my TPS, now my car revs strong.
