idle problem

I got a question, i have a 88 turbo2 rx7, after the initial 3k idle warm up the car idles around 1500 rpm. but after i drive it for a bit it idles normal around 800rpm. and when i turn it off and turn it on an hour or two later it idles normal still. It only happens in the mourning or when it sits overnight. any one have any ideas?

This is a good thing, this is the way it should work. It revs to 3 grand to heat up the cats.

Actually, revving to 3k when cold is bad for the engine in the long run. The only reason Mazda put it on was to pass emmisions.

im talking about after the 3k rev after cold start up for cats. when my vehicle is cold after the 3k rev it only drops down to 1500-2k. is that normal isnt it supposed to drop down to normal idle around 800-1k?

its still in the warm up process. it goes 3k 2k 1500 and round 500 normal idle. also if u blip the throttle after u start the car u can skip the 3 k part

I heard that you need to let all Rx7's warm up a while before you go...
Is this true?
How long am I waiting?

Nah, just don't hot rod it. There's not much difference between granny shifting and letting the engine rev to 3k on it's own.
