idle goes from 3k to 2k and keeps bouncing
Hiya, I did I search however I could not find the answer to my problem.
I have a 87 turbo with dp, mp, rb cat back, fcd, fmu, and ported wastegate.
I was just driving to work this morning (90% of it is on the freeway) and as I got near my work I noticed that my car had extra "kick". As I came and parked my car I noticed that my idle was going from 3k to 2k and then bounce up to 3k again. I thought I'd tend to it when I'm reading to go back home. So when I was about to leave, I turned on the car and it climbed to 5k, I gave it a bliped the accelerator but that didn't do anyting. About 10 seconds later, it went down to 4k, and then just when I thought it was going back to normal it started the 3 to 2k bounce.
I've taken off the intercooler and searched for a vacuum leak but I couldnt find any. I thought maybe the throttle was stuck, but that also was not correct. I did notice that my mass oxygen sensor wire was burned to a crisp though. I haven't done any modifications recently, so I did I knock something loose while driving?
This is my daily driver and any help would be greatly appreciated

If my downpipe to midpipe gasket went out, would that be a reason for this? Also, is there any single thing that would have caused the tps to go off? The car's idle didn't deteriorate over a span of time to reach this point. Prior to yesterday the idle was fine, and I didn't have any problems with it.

You are idle hunting. You need to ajust your TPS and check for vacume leaks. check the trouble shooting in a haynes manual it covers idle hunting nicely.

My car is doing the 2 to 3k bounce as well! It'll ride normally for a while and then instantly it suddenly starts doing "the bounce" and loses all power -- completely ignoring input from the gas peddle. I've watched the throttle body while my brother pressed the gas peddle, and the throttle moves normally as one would expect, but the rpms and engine sound are not affected at all. My TPS has never had any problems before... I'm going to check it tonight. Are there any other possibililties?
Thanks!
