Idle adjustments?

My idle is pretty high right now(2000+) & am trying to find out how to adjust it. Can someone give me detailed instructions? Thanks.

Hey, I don't remember if have a turbo or an NA, but I think you have an NA right? If so, there is an idle adjust screw on the top of the throttle body. It may have a black rubber cap covering it, if so, just pull it off. The screwis a flat-head, and its should be gold-sh colored. Turn it to the right to lower your idle, and left to raise it. If your idle is at 2000+ though I doubt this will lower your idle to what you want(750-1000). You may have a slight intake leak or something that is causing your idle to be high, is your idle really lumpy, or is it pretty solid?

Intake leak is possible I guess, I have a custom made intake tube. My idle is steady. I will tighten up the intake tube and see if it helps then go on to the idle adjust screw. Thanks alot.

O ya, any way to check for an intake leak?

One way to check for an intake leak is to spray starting fluid on or near the intake while at idle. If you hear the engine change speed, it may be sucking in starting fluid around where the leak is. Good Luck

Good idea, I will try that. Just can't spray too much around or it will just get taken in the filter Thanks.

I wouldnt use starting fluid. It might dry up some vaccum lines and you cant really control where you spray it.

Instead you can use a propane torch, seriously, open the valve on the torch just a bit and scope out all the vaccum lines and stuff. it is much more controlable than starting fluid and probably less flamable.

This is an old method used on old cars and it allowed me to find the oddest vaccum leak on my saab.
