idle

Hi my rx7 was idling around 1000 rpms so i turned the screw under the black cap on uim to decrease it. it idles smoothly and runs strong still , So my question is it ok to adjust it that way or will it hurt my car any? Thanks in advance. also i could tell its been turned b4 because the screw head was worn so maybe i put it back right?

You'll want to check the procedure in the FSM/Haynes manual to properly adjust the idle. If you just turn down the screw, the BAC valve is going to try and compensate. The result is a wrong adjustment. I believe you have to set the initial set coupler when setting idle speed, but I don't remember specifically.

Also, find out why the car was idling so high. If it just happened, it signals a problem.

Its actually been like this since i got this car, The previous owner couldn't get it running, And the screw has been touched before so i was thinking they may have moved it. Now the car idles pretty stable around 750-800 rpms and i've driven it around for awhile and it seems like no complications so far or anything trying to adjust itself. But my major concern is can turning the screw hurt the car?

No, it won't hurt the car.

Also adjust your TPS while you are there.
