Idiots Way to Check TPS??

Ok, in theory, could I just take a straitened peice of a paperclip, set it into the connector and set the other end of the paperclip around the - battery terminal. Than from here go into the car, turn it to start and grab the codes? When people say "Oh just use any wire" this doesn't make much sense. So in this case I am clerifying with "just any peice of wire" thanks for the help guys.

i don't know how that is going to test your TPS. if you're talking about grounding the little test connector that is near the battery, that will reveal any codes stored in the ECU when you turn the key to the "on" position. to check/adjust the TPS, you will need a DMM or voltmeter and a couple of paper clips jammed into the back of the connector for the TPS. do a search for this, i can't remember which two wires to tap into, but its on here somewhere. good luck

Paper clip is fine to ground the check connector

As for checking the TPS, you need an voltmeter that can read ohms

Yeah I know, I am a serious tard today. But hey we get like that once in a while. I am graduating in a couple of weeks from high school so it is getting down to a rush and I did this between classes. Yeah I want to check my ecu for the error code(s). So it is possible with a straitened peice of paperclip? Hmmm that is cool...I will try it this weekend. Thanks a lot guys.
