IDIOTS guide for setting timing needed

Like the title said, I'm having a little trouble comprehending some of the subject matter when it comes to setting the timing on these cars. Is there a guide for setting the timing somewhere? I'm having some difficulty finding one, so if anyone would be so kind as to help a rotary brethren out, I'd really appreciate it!

there is a detailed description in the factory service manual. timing light is a MUST and you need to get the TPS properly adjusted before the timing can be dead on.

Follow the instructions in jpg one. But a wise man would remove the top cover of the CAS and observe the relationship of the moving parts in the top area of the CAS with the non moving areas in the top of the CAS, when the marks on the bottom of the CAS are aligned as mentioned in the first jpg.

The shaft of the CAS will move as you install the CAS. So even if you did align the bottom marks of the CAS as instructed in the fist jpg, they MIGHT not be aligned when you have finished installing the CAS. So now all you have to do once it's installed, is to rotate the CAS body til the moving and fixed parts in the top of the CAS are again where they were prior to the installation.

Not that well explained, but the best I can do. A installed CAS, with the front pulley first mark opposite the fixed pin on the front cover, should look like the attached second jpg i.e. the two pointers on the top of the CAS cutting the corners of the black coils.

If the engine is already running, then just get a timing light out and use it instead of the above. See the last jpg I attached OR just read the FSM section on timing.

I appreciate the help guys. Reading the replies has lead me to believe that the timing is set OK, but a vacuum leak or something is causing my car to start up and die on me. The AFM is plugged in, so that's out of the equation. Now just have to keep searching.
