Idiot light problem

My other idiot light cluster...didn't work, so i got a new one with a workin clock. When i turn the ignition to "on" non of the lights come on, very rarely will i see a light come on. One night, it was the gas light. But the clock always works. Does anyone knnow what i could do? Cause i read some other posts, and i really want the lights to work!

Thanks boys

Evan

Following was written by Hailers:
Either a broken wire from the Alternator to the CPU or a bad solder joint on the connector (jack) at the CPU.

Attached is a jpg of the circuit. Check that wire is connected to the alternator (small two socket plug) and that there is a ground for the relay when it latches. Also check that fuse (slim chance of it being bad). Then take the CPU apart and resolder the jack connectors (just reheat them might do).

The idea is that when the car is not turning and the key is on, a ground goes from the alternator to pull that relay in. When the relay is pulled in, a ground is sent to the idiot light cluster to illuminate all the idiot lights. Something like that anyway.

Yeah, thanks for that Aaron. I already bought a new one with better solder joints. Just wondering if it could be another computer related problem.
