OK I woul like to know what swaybars perform best. I do not auto cross but I might start later on in the year if I ever get my coil overs. Well anyways I would like to be able to take turns at a higher rate of speed since some of the roads around here are a little twisty(not much though). I was thinking about the TIEN (sp?) coilovers and new bushings and also a better swaybar front and back. What else would you autoxers sudgest. I know there is a suspension forum but this one has higer traffic. I plan on doing this over the next year or year and a half so I would be able to spend about 4k total.

Tires and wheels first.

Tires,
Wheels,
shocks,
strutbars,

Then sway bars
and springs or coil overs if you feel you still need them.

Hey rx7 guy, my setup consits of.... intrax springs and a front ebay strut bar. rear cork sport i think it is, and 235 in the back 215's up front, it handles hella nice, strut bars dont realy matter just buy the cheap ones, but they do help, its best if you do both. im sure sway bars are the same, probably the thicker the better... oh and, put some 215s on the bbs's

i went Tokico for my suspension and springs, and i have a red efini Strut Bar front, www.rx7store.net has a sweet carbon fiber rear strut bar that i will be purchasing in the near future, you should check out, for the front strut bar, just go to ebay and do a search "RX-7" and you will find a Gazillion front strut bars that work just fine.

Well, as an autocrosser.....

I would suggest not showing up to an autocross with that particular setup. You'll get spanked by cars with half the money invested into suspension setup. First of all, Tein, JIC, or any other Jap-spec company doesn't offer caster adjustment on their camber plates. Caster is very important in adjusting the whole suspension "feel". Why would you only tune half of the car?

If you really wanted to have a car that handles...... buy tires and rims for now. Then get a rule book and do the alotted mods per car classification. Stay in stock class, so you get stock springs any shock/strut that bolts to the stock mounting points and a front sway bar. This, IMHO is all you need to layeth the smacketh down upon some poseurs. I used to campaign a relatively competative CSP car with AGX & Eibach Pro-kit and race rubber. I then converted to a double adjustable coilover setup but couldn't tune the suspension to make it handle.

Resist all urges to buy some dope suspension setup before you understand what you need. First go out to an autocross and see how your car handles "as-is" and develop some "skillz yo". Then start paying attention to the competition. See what they run, their settings, and you can often drive other peoples cars on practice days to see if you like that setup. If you were to go out and drop 2K right now on some Tein shocks, I would be able to school you in my 1st gen with Tokico's and R-compound. Yeah, that's not going to be fun for you. The main point is to have fun and learn your car and improve your driving skill. Do this first, then start upgrading the car as your driving skills aproach the limit of the car.

I'm reminded of a saying....
"You need to fix the nut behind the steering wheel for that car to perform."
