I want 10psi but a couple of Q's...

Hey guys,

I have been debating on turning the boost up on my FC and want to go for it if its really all that worth it. I am searching around and want some more input and so on.

car has 70k original miles on it.

I have installed...

-Rtek 1.5 ECU upgrade
-Ported wastegate and flapper door
-Racingbeat turbo back exhaust

and have but not installed...

-Greddy fmic kit
-intake setup to replace oem box and such

boost controller would be a Greddy profec-B (the original one)

I understand that the tmic is **** for anything over stock but have a fmic that isn't installed yet. I know its just a stock turbo but if its going to be pushing the turbo's limits then I will refrain from this.

Injectors... is 10lbs ok for this and not maxing them out... I know they can only be good up to a point, I don't want to come anywhere close to that, I want it safe. Same thing as the pump... I want to be well in the safe range.

I don't want this to potentially harm my car in any way what so ever! So yeah, if I need to upgrade anything like the fuel pump, or my secondaries... can anyone throw some info. I don't want a "good for a while, but harmful in the long run" thing. So yeah, what mods would I need to lean towards if any to make this happen.

Thanks for looking and whatever mods I need to do, and leaving out I will go about searching to make it happen.

not to flame you, but just to add knowledge watch this vid http://videos.streetfire.net/video/A...nto_139109.htm
this is a member on here, it is a s5 running s4 turbo rotors and an apex'i poxer fc ecu, besides that stock. tmic s5 turbo blah blah blah, and was running 13's easily, i think u can get 10 psi out of the tmic no problem.

sincerly,
justin

I want to know about fuel, pump and injectors, and possible damage to the car the way it is... not if its safe to run 10psi on the tmic. I have an fmic kit that I am installing. So I'm not concerned with using the tmic anymore.

Cool video tho it didn't show any stats on what he is running. I take it you know him or something...?

I would at least swap in some 750cc injectors for the secondaries, upgrade your fuel pump, and it would probably be alright. You dont really need a fuel controller, it will run a tad rich at staging point, but not enough to make it stumble. and up top the AFRs will be down in the safe zone. As far as timing, you can retard your CAS a few degrees to be safe as well

From my experience, with your mods (3" exhaust, fmic, etc), your engine needs about 30-35% more fuel than stock to keep the AFRs safe. If you want to do it right, i would upgrade to at least 750's all around, fuel pump, and ECU with timing control.

a lot of people overlook timing.. the stock map is very advanced near redline at full load. It would better to have an ecu that can retard the timing where you need it

if you watch the end of each run it gives you times and trap speed, its like 13.4 at 103, which blows most imports out around here (evo's, sti's ALMOST every honda), sorry forgot to mention, also a walbro 255, stock injectors and racing beat exhaust. i can't recall if the 1.5 retards timing above 9psi, but i think the 1.7 and 1.8 do

most of the imports around you are only running mid 13's? Damn man, that sucks. To the OP upgrade the fuel pump and get a bit bigger injectors and your good to go.

Thanks for the replies guys! I have the Rtek 1.5 and it does retard the timing above 9psi... said timing is pulled one degree per psi.

Also, Jamin... shoot me a PM b/c I want to talk to you about your 2.1 setup if you are looking to get rid of it.

I'm runnig 10lbs on stock rewired pump, stock turbo, stock TMIC, stock injectors and Rtek 1.5 and my AFRs are always perfect. Just get a wideband to watch your AFRs and set your controller for 10PSI. Car runs like a champ and has been since i got it.

Im running 13 psi (doesnt hold) on stock turbo, 720cc injectors, 3" down pipe, Stock TMIC, walboro 255, Apexi neo and tial 38mm wastegate, and it runs like a champ. AFR 11.6
before i put the neo and the injectors (AFR 13.3!!) i ran a 13.9 twice out of 6 runs. consistant 14.0 and one 14.1. now with higher boost level a neo and injectors im not sure what the car runs.

But keep this in mind. Your Air Intake Temperature (with higher boost level) is also going to be up there. We just installed a Microtech LT10s on my buddys TII (first gen man) and the AIT reads 130 celcius. Your top mount is no better than mine or his. Its a top detonation mount inter-heater. if i were you, i would install your FMIC to be safe.
