FL I thought it was the Throwout Bearing

Okay to start off Iam back tracking because of someone else. The car is a 86 N/A with GXL additions. When I would take off in first I could feel a horrifc slipping and this would happen in everyother gear. If I would leave the car in 5th and try to acheive higher RPM and speed it would make a horrifc squealing noise and then the rpms would jump and the car would not pull. I drop the tranny and change the throwout, inspect other items and everything seems to be in good working order...I put everything back together and it is still doing the same Fing thing !! WTF !>! So now I am at a loss. The clutch and pressure plate are ACT and did not look worn to dust on how bad it slips and makes the squeal. Any Ideas ?

yea i changed my clutch and left the thropwout bearing in there since it was grooved on the inside and the one my kit came with wasnt, besides didnt have a tool to get ti out anyways, i have a whining noise from my tranny area but ive heard na get some noisy tranny all i can do is swap tranny and hope there no noise from that one, i have no slippage is just hard toget it into first from second specially if you are not stopped, it just gets a ruf spot u have to pull the shifter threw.

^becareful figuring out where the whining noise is coming from. Several years ago I had a whining noise. I figured it was my throwout bearing and had the clutch replaced. After a new clutch the noise was still there and it turns out it was either a motor mount or a transmission mount. The bad mount forced the drivetrain crooked. The noise I was hearing was my u-joint.

^ that does sound like your throw out bearing. my car does the same noise in nuetral and I was told by several knowledgable people (mind you, piston guys) that it was the throw out bearing.

in regards on hard shifting from 2nd down to first while moving, I was under the assumption that na FC tranny's do not have a synchro down into first? my car will not go into first while moving unless I rev match and then it goes in perfectly smooth.

the Throw out bearing requires NO TOOLS to get it off the clutch fork.
the PILOT bearing though requires a Bearing puller or some Ingenuity to get out of the end of the eccentric shaft.
NOW,If the car is Hard to get into gear when driving,it is either the synchros in the trans are going/gone or the Pilot bearing is Kaput.
that would sort of "weld" the trans shaft to the eccentric shaft so that even the clutch would not fully disengage the Drivetrain during shifts.
A GOOD RULE is When you drop your Transmission, change ALL bearings.. I "thought' the bearing was good and I shot myself in the foot Thinking this,,NEVER..EVER again!!
The throw out bearing is 40 bucks..
the Pilot bearing is 15..
Think about it,,ya wanna risk paying someone to do a Tranny job Again, over a measely 15 bucks??

sounds like a bad pressure plate to me. there is no way to test the pressure plate, if the springs are worn due to it being an older clutch it can still easily slip while appearing to be perfectly fine. pressure plates are sprung discs and eventually they lose their clamping force as the springs lose their clamping force flex.

ACT clutches from my experience make a chirping noise when just about to grab, so if it is slipping it is easily possible for the noise you're hearing to in fact be the clutch simply slipping which would also likely be accomplanied by the harsh vibration from the hot spots that are probably now on the PP and flywheel(think of a warped brake rotor pulsating your brake pedal and causing the car to shudder while braking but a bit more violently due to engine RPMs being much higher).
