I think my engine is done 4
I think my engine is done 4
I pulled the radiator cap off and there wasnt very much fluid in the radiator, figured ok I'll just add some. Turns out that theres air in the radiator, so watched it and it never stopped comming out of the radiator. From what I have read from this server and most other people it has to be a coolant seal. Is my engine done for or am I wrong? What should I do I had it rebuilt less than 3,000 miles ago and its an out of state mechanics shop? Please help.

From your description, there isn't enough information to guess whether the engine is bad or not. Also, depending on the year, the S4's have a bleeder valve on the top passenger side of the radiator. If a S5, remove the rad cap from the thermostat housing, start the car, and wait until the bubbles stop floating to the top. Either procedure will release air from the system.

Ya i find that reading this forum too much will make u panic.
There are lots of posts in this forum about cooling issues. I had a few cooling issues myself. Try bleeding the system of all the air and keep an eye on it...make sure everything is holding pressure like its supposed to. Obviously if air is still getting in then u have a bigger problem at hand.

More input. The smoke is usually there when I start it up and the engine is usually cold. It also has some kind of wierd smell to it, I cant identify, but all of that usually goes away when it warms up. I figured maybe it was just running rich but I cant figure it out and I still dont know where the coolant is going. If anyone could give me more input on how to test this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks alot for the input you've given me already.

When the car is cold, remove the coolant filler cap (the one right above the thermostat). With the cap removed start the car up. Its normal for some coolant to splash out initially, but if it comes squirting out (like a fountain) you're screwed.
I found a puddle of antifreeze underneath my car this morning I was wondering if coolant seals are just internal, Maybe I got lucky I'm not sure yet. Is it possible that a whole in one or some of the fins in the radiator would let air into the coolant system.
