i think my clutch is F***ed

ok does anybody know if you can save an oil soaked clutch? i tore out my engine and found a pool of oil and other liquids in my bell housing and the clutch material is darker than normal. im not to sure if its ceramic or organic. all i know is that i was told that it is a stage 1 street clutch and it looks like it is so i dont think he's lying about that. is there any way to get the oil out?

So you are saying the motor is out of the car? Try wiping it down with brake cleaner but id rather just buy a new clutch if the motor is already out.

brake cleaner will be fine. i don't know if it will get the oil out, but it by itself won't hurt the clutch disk.

Was it slipping before you tore it down?

Oil on a clutch actually makes it grabbier.

I'd use a **** ton of brake cleaner on it and rock it. If it slips, you'll need a new one. It's not like it's hard to drop the transmission.

Hey fucktard, you're the one asking questions, I'm the one answering them.

Use google.

However, if the clutch facings are contaminated with oil, clutch chatter
and jerky engagements may result. Oil contamination may occur from poor
handling of clutch parts, during assembly. However, it most often occurs
due to an oil leak from the engine (through the rear main bearing oil
seal). Less than one drop of oil is enough to make a clutch chatter, so
great care is required in handling clutch facings and in designing engine
oil seals.
Yeah, I misspoke...but the concept is still there...you should be able to figure it out. Try it, and if it doesn't work, change it.

You just got pwnt by the dumbest person ever. How does that make you feel?

When oil heats up and breaks down it becomes like thick glue. When I worked at a go-kart track many moons ago an engine lost some oil on the track. For a few laps we were drifting and spinning, after the oil burned itself on the track and tires, it became like glue - super sticky full out turns.
