Unhappy i think its blown

i need someone to reassure me that my engine needs a rebuild. i did a 86 TII swap in my gxl and have a problem. when i did the swap i have some cooling issues at first but they got better than ALOT worse. heres what happened: the temp gauge was tacked out all the time even at startup so i thought no big deal just a bad sensor but than it started boiling over. i purged the system and it was fine til i got on it a little than it boiled over but now lots of leaks. i fixed the leaks than used one of the no-spill funnels to fill the system which blew off the fill tube and coolant is everywere when i put the funnel plug in. this happened 20 sec after startup so i believe there is combustion in the cooling system. any ideas would be great on what gave way and the best way to fix it on a budget

thanks
Brandon
