I swear, I'm changing the car's name from Lucy to Hydra
Because I fix one problem and two appear in its place.
I finally get the water pump installed. No leaks, and I think all the air is out of the system now.
But...I went to start her-up to go to class, and the idle zoomed to around 3500. "Woah crap!" I put in the clutch, shift to 1st...and the engine immediately stalls. Keeping the clutch in and the stick in first, I try starting her a few more times, each time the engine gets to about 800rpm before it just crashes, like there's a massive vacuum leak (there isn't). Try again, and it starts-up fine.
Sigh...
Could this be related to my surging idle? Or has a capacitor burst in the ECU? 2000rpm when cold, 1800-1600 when the coolant temp needle is at 1/4, at 3/8 the idle drops to 1500 and begins surging down to 1100 before coming back-up. this lasts a couple minutes until the engine fully warms and it drops to a rock-even 700-800.
After dealing with corroded mating surfaces on the pump housing, studs so far rotted that a pry bar was needed to force the housing off, and two broken extractors (popped my heli-coil cherry ) I'm all for some light electrical or TB assy work.
