I swapped a S5 alternator into my S4, now my battery dies in 3 days, what's up??????
Like I said the battery dies after a few days now is there something different in the alternators that needs a relay to shut off or something???
P.S. My car is an 88 vert. BTW

My battery was fine with the good S4 alternator, my main reason for the swap was the dual pulley that came on the S5 alternator, I figured why swap a pulley for 10 amps less. I thought I remebered seeing some post about this same thing happening to someone else who did this swap but my search has not turned up anything.
not trying to be funny but, are you sure the S5 alternator is good? Id drive to autozone or some other place and have it checked. like the others said, it could just be that your old alt just didnt have enough *** to keep your battery charged and it was just it's time to go...
You probably switch the wires to the voltage regulator (the 2 smaller wires that plug in the back of the alt).
there should be no drainage when you put a s5 alt on a s4 alt. I know because I have one on my s4.

Same thing happened to me when I went s4 to s6 alternator. Swap the wires on the regulator. The drain should go away.
