I spilled coolant into the exhaust ports....oh no!! How do I get it out?

I was removing the LIM on my '1987 TurboII and forgot to plug up the exhaust ports, when the LIM came off there was a lot of coolant that came out of the engine and ran down the side. Some of the coolant went into the exhaust ports and into the rotor housings, more so into the rear one than the front.

I managed to take a clean shop towel and fish it down into the rear housing through the exhaust port a few times and soaked up most of it but I am very concerned about this. What would be the best thing to do next?

I would really appreciate any help with this matter. Thanks in advance.

can you turn the engine over?.by hand?.
It isn't anything Major that you did.The coolant will Burn out of the housing Pretty quickly on start up.
If you are REALLY concerned, then you could always Squirt some OIL into the spark plug holes and rotate the engine. The oil will mix with the coolant and Come out.
The ONLY "bad Thing" I can see happening is IF you let the Engine SIT for a long period of time with the Coolant in the Housings. If that is the case then Either Motor Oil OR Fogging oil,and Turning the engine over a couple revolutions should Help immensely.

The engine can be turned by hand but I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that before getting as much of it out as possible. I don't think it was as much as I had originally thought. I just kept using a clean towel and shoving it into the ports, eventually it kept coming back dry. I guess what little bit of residual coolant is left won't do much damage for a few days, though I will add some oil and turn it over by hand just in case.

Thanks for the input.

sounds like you got most of it out... just pull the plugs and kick the engine over with the starter... like you were cleaning out a gas fouled engine... it shouldnt hurt anything... just make sure that there is no dirt that will get sucked into the intake ports

Yeah, I just kinda freaked out at first, this is a newer motor and I didn't want to mess anything up. Thanks again for the advice guys.

only concern would be washing away the oil film on the housings. you could crank it over with the starter and then put some motor oil in the lower plug holes.

Clean it out, spray a considerable amount of fogging oil in there, and then circulate it around.

Can I use motor oil if I can't find "fogging" oil?
