I Need Yalls Help!
Guys, I am tryin to buy RX7s, and most of em in my price range arent running, or arent running right. PLEASE, tell me how to do a compression test. If I can run a compression test, and it has good compression, these cars will be worth buying.
I found one today that ran, but he "says" needs a battery, plugs, and wires for $700! He said hed let me have it for $300 on the phone today. He said he has 2 other RX7s. COME ON, please just tell me how to do a compression test.
Is it the same as piston engine? Compression guage in the spark plug socket? Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I know nothing about rotarys.
Thanks,
Marc

Do you know basically how a rotary engine works?

The needle will bounce as the engine turns over, there will be 3 distinct bounces per revolution (1 for each face of the triangular shaped rotor). You want to take note of EACH peak reading on both rotors, so 6 readings total.
Example:
Front Rotor = 91, 89, 94
Rear Rotor = 88, 20, 90 (uh oh, looks like there's a problem here)
Also, check out what the search function turned up...

Okay, good to know about the three numbers. So assuming that one of the numbers is really low, that APEX seal is most likely blown, and the motor is trash, and needs to be rebuilt / replaced...
THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW!
Thanks!
